REMEDIATION

Upon receipt or pickup by ARM, components are sorted into three categories, based upon the following hierarchy:

Reuse - Any component capable of one more return cycle. ARM cleans, de-labels, sorts, identifies, and packages reusable packaging and product components according to approved specifications. When a sufficient quantity has been accumulated, ARM ships it back to the business partner (by ARM truck, LTL transit, or other appropriate method), its suppliers, or a third-party purchaser.

Recycle - Any material that does not meet the criteria for reuse, and can be recycled (i.e. used as a raw material in other products). ARM bales or grinds recyclable materials, and sell them to recyclers.

Solid Waste -  Any material that cannot be feasibly reused or recycled. ARM compacts and disposes of solid waste through approved solid waste disposal services in compliance with regulatory requirements.

The process is generally invisible at the business partner's manufacturing site. The principal exception is a Supplier Loop where components are collected at a business partner's facility. ARM can remove inventories of used components as often as necessary in order to minimize the use of the business partner's floor space.

ARM monitors the efficiency of the program daily, and manages customer and supplier participation, in order to ensure profitability of the program. ARM will supply the business partner with a report at agreed-upon periods, detailing program activities, profit/loss, and suggestions to improve the program. ARM and its business partner will establish packaging and quality control specifications for returning packaging or product components.

ARM strives to increase efficiencies, and works to redesign packaging and systems to decrease costs and increase component durability and the feasibility and profits of reusing packaging. ARM works with the business partner's staff to increase their understanding of the returnable component reverse logistics process, and facilitates interaction between corporate departments.  Rather than trying to sell a particular container, ARM works with purchasing professionals to optimize the reuse of existing packaging.
